💡 What does "no VOCs" mean?
Cottage Color Paints safe to use indoors because they have no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) paint. VOCs are chemicals found in many traditional paints that can evaporate into the air and cause various health issues, including respiratory problems and headaches. Additionally, VOCs contribute to indoor air pollution and have a negative impact on the environment. This type of paint can be particularly beneficial for those who are sensitive to chemicals or have young children or pets in the home.

😍 Tips & Tricks For Cottage Color Paint
- Test the Paint: Before starting on the main item, test the paint on a small, inconspicuous area. This allows you to see how the color looks and how well it adheres to the surface.
- Use Quality Brushes: Investing in high-quality paintbrushes can make a significant difference in the final outcome. Quality brushes provide smoother application and better control. Our favorite brushes are Cling On. They are high quality, last a long time and clean up well.
- Patience is Key: Allowing each coat of paint to dry completely before applying the next one is crucial for a professional finish. Rushing the process can lead to streaks and uneven coverage.
Step 2: Preparing the Workspace
Next, lay down a drop cloth to protect the floor and surrounding areas from paint splatters. You can use painter's tape to mask off any areas that should not be painted, such as hardware or glass panels. Painter’s Tape Amazon Link
Step 3: Applying the Paint
Now it’s time to paint using our Cottage Color Paint! It's important to avoid overloading the brush with paint, as this can lead to drips and uneven coverage. Start with a thin coat and allow it to dry completely before applying additional coats. Use long, even brush strokes to ensure a smooth finish. Be light with your application so you don’t pull paint with the brush. This helps to build up the color gradually and achieve a more polished look.
Step 4: Adding Additional Coats
Depending on the desired finish and the type of item being painted, additional coats may be necessary. Cottage Color Single Step paint typically requires two to three coats for optimal coverage. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next one.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Once the final coat of paint is dry, you are ready to clean up! This includes removing the painter's tape carefully to avoid damaging the fresh paint. If any touch-ups are needed, you can use a small brush to address any missed spots or imperfections.
It is very important to clean your brushes and other tools promptly to prevent the paint from drying and becoming difficult to remove. You can use DIY Paint Brush Cleaner or mild soap and water to clean your brushes.
