🧰 Supplies You’ll Need

🎨 Step-by-Step Tutorial

1. Prep Your Surface

Lightly sand each cutting board to smooth the surface and remove any finish. Wipe away dust with a damp cloth. This helps the paint adhere better.

2. Apply Your Base Color

Choose soft, cottage-inspired hues like Garden Sage, Haint Blue, Vintage Pink, or Honey.
Apply Cottage Color All-in-One Paint in thin, even coats. Paints in this line include topcoat, so 1–2 coats are usually enough.
Let dry completely between coats.

💡 Tip: Slight brush strokes add to the vintage charm—don’t over-perfect it!

3. Distress (Optional but Recommended)

Once dry, lightly sand edges and corners for a worn, time-loved look. Focus on high-contact areas like handles and edges.  Be sure to remove all dust from cutting board so transfer will stick

4. Apply IOD Transfers

Carefully cut out your chosen Iron Orchid Designs transfer pieces.

  • Place them onto the board
  • Rub gently using the provided applicator stick
  • Peel back slowly to ensure full transfer

Layer florals, butterflies, or birds to create a balanced composition.

5. Seal with Clear Wax

Once your design is set, apply a thin coat of DIY clear wax using a lint-free cloth or wax brush.

  • Work in circular motions
  • Let it sit for a few minutes
  • Buff gently for a soft sheen

This step protects your design and enhances that velvety, vintage finish.

🕊️ Styling & Display Ideas

  • Lean them against your backsplash
  • Hang on hooks for a gallery-style wall
  • Use as decorative serving trays (not for food prep after sealing)
  • Gift as handmade housewarming presents
